Huge, Upscale Outlet Mall Opening Near O'Hare

Just a few minutes from Elmhurst, it will feature outlet shops for some of the world's best-known luxury brands and cater to travelers flying in and out of O'Hare, as well as local shoppers.

A two-story shopping mall with 120 stores, mostly outlets of luxury brands such as Prada and Coach, and upscale stores such as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale's, is slated to open just a few miles from Elmhurst.

Fashion Outlets of Chicago, opening in Rosemont in August, is being developed by AWE Talisman, an outlet developer and manager, and Macerich, a regional mall owner, operator and developer.

The mall's anchor stores will be Bloomingdale’s The Outlet Store, Last Call by Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th and Forever 21, the developers announced.

The mall will have two fine-dining restaurants, Villagio and Prasino, a food court and fine art installations.

Perhaps setting a new trend in locating malls on the edge of airports to encourage shopping, Fashion Outlets of Chicago will have shuttle bus service to and from O'Hare terminals for travelers who want to shop.

The developers also said a TSA-certified concierge on-site will print travelers' boarding passes and check their shopping bags and luggage to their flights.

The mall will be located off of Balmoral Avenue in Rosemont and off of Interstate 294, at the intersections of interstates 190 and 90.

It's near a new entertainment complex, The Park at Rosemont, which offers numerous restaurants and bars, including Adobe Gila's, Toby Keith's and Five Roses Pub, as well as concerts, ice skating, bowling and the Muvico theater.

“We don’t believe there is another shopping environment that reaches this caliber of global brands with this level of customer care and market access,” said AWE Talisman Chairman Arthur Weiner in a statement.

“Beyond the robust slate of retail and dining attractions, Fashion Outlets of Chicago also will offer an exciting set of customer amenities and social experiences, including a world-class art installation.”

Fashion Outlets of Chicago is the latest development in an increasingly rich Rosemont area, which has seen a number of new restaurants and entertainment venues open in recent years. It is located on Fashion Outlets Way off of Balmoral Road in Rosemont and off of I-294 at the intersections of I-190 and I-90. Dining is another focus of the new property: Fashion Outlets of Chicago will offer two fine dining restaurants, Prasino and Villagio, in addition to a first-level food court and variety of other quick-service options.

“Fashion Outlets of Chicago marks our commitment to the changing face of outlet retail in America,” said Art Coppola, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Macerich.
