Glen Ellyn Business Hands Out Roses for Valentine's Day

Fast on Site spread a little love in downtown Glen Ellyn as Metra commuters came home.

As Glen Ellyn commuters departed from Metra trains Tuesday afternoon, they were greeted with free long-stem roses and rose petals lining the sidewalks.

, a computer repair shop in downtown Glen Ellyn, sponsored the event to attract more customers to its store at 503 Duane St.

Armed with 500 roses, the group brought smiles to commuters on the chilly Valentine's Day.

"We wanted to get some exposure in a non-traditional way," said Fast on Site owner, Amit Mehta. "This was something different."

In addition to repairing computers, Mehta sells new and refurbished computers. After working in California's Silicon Valley, Mehta returned to the western suburbs of Chicago and opened the downtown Glen Ellyn store in 2009. Later, he expanded his operation, adding another location in Elmhurst.

Craig always comes up with creative ideas for his clients that draw attention to their businesses! We used his bike advertising last year and plan to continue this year.

What a brilliant promotion! And I'm sure for many it was the only rose they got that day. (Love the photo of the guy looking at the rose like it's a foreign object.) Kudos to Mr. Mehta for a clever and memorable "guerrilla marketing" tactic that got him some attention and also warmed a few hearts on Valentine's Day. Wish I'd thought of it.

Thanks for the comment, Vickie! It was really fun to watch people's faces light up when they were handed a rose.

Wow! What a great idea. You can see the smiles on some of the recipients.

Thanks Vickie for your kind comment. It was a pleasure to work with Mr. Mehta and Fast on Site. I'm glad he approved of my wacky idea and how nice is my wife to give up her Valentine's Day to pass out flowers to others?
