Shop and Dine Wheaton

Perfect for finding those last-minute Spring Break items, the “Hammers and Heels” Shop and Dine Wheaton event will take place from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, March 15. Participating retailers and restaurants throughout Downtown Wheaton will help spread the DuPage Habitat For Humanity (DHFH) Women Build message while guests socialize and shop. Participating businesses include Two Shopaholics Boutique, Uptown Girl, Elements & Starrs Boutique, The Stork’s Cradle, Hollyhocks, Jeans & a Cute Top Shop, Sandberg’s Store for Men, Zazu Salon & Day Spa, Ivy Restaurant and Wok ‘n Fire. DHFH will receive a portion of the net proceeds for the event from each participating retailer.

The evening will kick off at 6 p.m. at Ivy Restaurant (120 N. Hale St.). The first 100 shoppers will receive a free Vera Bradley tote filled with gifts and coupons, and all attendees will receive a punch card, which will encourage them to visit selected venues along the way. Completed punch cards can then be dropped off at the evening’s last stop to enter a raffle for a new spring handbag filled with products and gift cards. Guests can enjoy a create-your-own cocktail at Ivy Restaurant to wrap up the retail festivities and compare shopping conquests. The restaurant will donate $1 from each drink sold to DHFH Women Build.

Women Build, a Habitat for Humanity initiative that recruits, educates and nurtures women to build – and advocate for – simple, decent and affordable houses in their communities, is a new venture for DHFH.
