City Approves Liquor License for Mariano's Fresh Market

Mariano's plans to open at the end of October at the corner of Naperville and Roosevelt roads in Wheaton.

Wheaton officials Monday approved liquor license ordinances for Mariano's Fresh Market to allow them to serve alcohol at the store's cafe, the Daily Herald reported.

Mariano's officials told council members they're hoping to open at the end of October, a couple weeks later than their initial Oct. 15 open date, according to the Herald.

Mariano's will open at the corner of Roosevelt and Naperville roads, the site of Wheaton's original high school and old Hubble Middle School.

Bradford Equities, LLC in 2011 bought the old Hubble Middle School site from Community Unit School District 200 for $5,000,200. They sold part of the site to the Wheaton Park District for $3 million. The park district will keep the building's gyms and develop a park to serve as a "gateway" to downtown Wheaton.
