Brewery Raises Funds for Summer Opening in Wheaton

Dry City Brew Works is hoping for a summer opening in downtown Wheaton.

New brewery Dry City Brew Works is planning a summer opening in Wheaton, according to the brewery's Kickstarter site.

The brewery is currently trying to raise $15,000 to open on Main Street downtown. Brews include the Wheaton Grand Theater "MiracAle," the "Wheat(on)" American Wheat Ale and the Providence Coffee Milk Stout, brewed with coffee from River City Roasters.

The name "Dry City Brew Works" is a nod to the City of Wheaton, which banned alcohol sales in 1887 and issued its first liquor license almost 100 years later. In addition to selling locally brewed beer, Dry City will also offer a tasting room where customers can try their offerings.
