Women on the Battlefield in the Civil War
During America’s Civil War women took on many jobs to help the soldiers and aid the struggle between the North and the South. Women during the 1800s were not allowed to vote and numerous individuals thought a woman’s place was in the home. For many this battle between the States forced women to manage everything at home from chopping wood to farming along with caring for their children. Countless women stepped on to the battlefield as nurses, soldiers and even spies.
