February Dessert and Coffee Time Scheduled for Art Institute Community Associates

Wednesday, February 15, beginning at 12:30 P.M., the Glen Ellyn Wheaton Community Associates of the Art Institute of Chicago will gather at the Abbington Banquets located at 3S002 Route 53 in Glen Ellyn for a Dessert and Coffee afternoon.  The featured speaker for the program is Carissa Kowalski Dougherty, writer, design historian, and Art Institute lecturer.  Her topic is “Cutting-Edge Jewelry Design.”
This lecture examines trends in contemporary jewelry design, highlighting the sophisticated, the sustainable, and the surprising aspects of this artistic category.  New technologies and new materials have changed the way jewelry designers create, drawing them more closely to their counterparts in architecture, conceptual art and industrial design.
Guests are welcome to attend the afternoon of art information and entertainment.  Call Elizabeth Tursman, 630-469-5160 or e-mail her at bgt1927@sbcglobal.net to make a reservation between Jan. 17 through Jan. 30. The cost of this event is $35 for guests and $20 for members of the Community Associates.
