The Burning Bush Gallery is pleased to invite the public to "Contemplating the Word" featuring artwork by Mel Kistner. The show opens on Sunday, July 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 and an artist's reception will be held on Sunday, July 22, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the gallery as well as on Friday, August 10, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The gallery is located directly south of Gary United Methodist Church, 224 N. Main Street, Wheaton.
Through her figurative works and bird series paintings, Mel Kistner explores how people contemplate God's word and allow The Word to change thoughts, behavior and spoken words. Drawing on her background as a clinical therapist, Ms. Kistner's paintings feature introspective figures representing themes of growth and redemption. Her bird paintings feature words with dual meanings addressing the human tendency to let words fly without intention.
