Buried Treasures: Men Who Ruled Our City & College Cemetery Tour

Buried Treasures: Men Who Ruled Our City & College
will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.  This interpretive cemetery tour will be
presented by the Center for History, a privately funded education center andmuseum.  Since 1859 when Wheaton was incorporated as a village, thirty-two men and two women have served Wheaton as Village President or City Mayor.  Nineteen of these men are buried in Wheaton Cemetery along with five of the eight Wheaton College Presidents. The lives of these Buried Treasures will be revealed as you are guided through Wheaton Cemetery to
each burial site located at 1209 Warrenville Road in Wheaton.  Elbert Gary’s mausoleum lined with marble will
be open as part of the tour.  The $20 ticket fee directly helps the Center for History preserve the 45,000 collection items entrusted to it by citizens and continue its active education programming. Pre-sale tickets are available before October 8th by sending a check for $17 each to Center for History, P.O. Box 373, Wheaton, IL
60187-0373.   For information email the Center at info@wheatonhistory.com or visit the website at www.wheatonhistory.org
