An Evening with Mister MOJO and his Bayou Gypsies at Glen Ellyn History Center

 

    Mister MOJO, star of MOJO & The Bayou Gypsies, will bring his all original RED HOT MOJO Music and Stories to the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main Street, Glen Ellyn, on Sunday, February 27 at 7:00 P.M.  Together with his Bayou Gypsies, Mister MOJO will share his decades of original music and the stories behind the songs.  MOJO & The Bayou Gypsies' thirteenth album, "25 Years of Inducing Wild Behavior", is about to be released, and will be available at this performance! This is a great opportunity to meet and discover this world renowned artist in an unplugged, intimate setting!

     Tickets go on sale Monday, February 1.  Tickets prices range from $18 to $50 per person:  VIP Ticket (includes 6:00 P.M. Meet and Greet Reception, refreshments, and complimentary MOJO CD) $50 each;  Preferred Seating Admission, $25 per ticket; General Admission, $18.00 per ticket.  This concert is a fund raiser for the Historical Society’s yearly activities.  Tickets can be purchased at Stacy’s Corner Store, 800 N.      Mister MOJO, has performed for more than 40 years across the USA, Canada, and Europe.  He is the vocalist, accordion player, songwriter, and father figure to the Bayou Gypsies who will join him onstage for this event.  Mister MOJO has written and recorded more than one hundred original songs with the Bayou Gypsies, and he has produced thirteen albums that include these extraordinary pieces of music.  He typically performs in large venues to sold-out audiences.  

     As a music historian, MOJO is the man who got the Frottoir - the Zydeco rubboard - inducted into the Smithsonian Institution.  He is also involved in historic preservation of the legacy of Mervine Kahn, who is credited with being the source of accordians for the original Creole and Cajun music legends.

      As a music educator, MOJO has a strong commitment to Arts Outreach to children (approaching 300,000 children) and underserved communities. He has mentored many artists to develop their careers and business.  He firmly believes in using the Arts to enrich the lives of people everywhere. MOJO stated,” We are earmarking the GEHS as part of our Arts Outreach to help enrich the lives of our friends in Glen Ellyn.”

       MOJO concerts have supported charities across America, including Rotary International, Masonic Charities, Shriners Hospitals for Children, Urban Gateways and many more. This concert is the third presentation in the GEHS’s Heritage Music Series.
