DuPage Historical Museum to Open Year-Long Civil War Lecture Series

The DuPage County Historical Museum opens its year-long lecture series on the Civil War Wednesday.

On Wednesday, April 20 from 7-8pm the DuPage County Historical Museum, located at 102 E. Wesley Street in Wheaton, will begin a year-long lecture series to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Civil Was. The lecture series is sponsored by the First Division Museum and they will be attending the event. The first lecture will be “Civil War Ghosts and Legends” presented by Brian Fox Ellis. The Museum has recently opened their newest exhibit, “DuPage County and the Civil War: A Local Perspective,” to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War. Other scheduled lectures for the spring of 2011 include:

  • Apr. 28, 1 to 2 p.m.: Gallery Talk:  DuPage and Civil War Topic:  Marcellus Jones & William Plum     
  • May 18, 7 to 8 p.m.: “First Lady of Midwest:  Mary Todd Lincoln” lecture by Cynthia Ogorek                               
  • May 14, 1 to 2 p.m.:“The Underground Railroad” presented by Terry Lynch                                                   
  • May 25, 7 to 8 p.m.: “Baseball and the Civil War” lecture by Bruce Allardice                                                   
  • May 26, 1 to 2 p.m.: Gallery Talk, DuPage and Civil War Topic: Women and Children
