Green Club member Haley LeBarge said it's important to teach younger kids to recycle, "so they teach their kids and it keeps going and the earth gets cleaner and cleaner."

The club's leader, Jill Palmore added that it's important to learn about recycling at an early age, as a future consumer.

Longfellow Principal Dianne Thornburg nominated the eco-conscious crew. She said that "all the help they have done has spread to benefit the entire school."

The Green Club recycles batteries, crayons, glue containers and more. Since the beginning of the year, the club has collected nearly 10,000 drink pouches, energy bar wrappers and chip bags. They raised $187.06 for the school and plans to use the money to plant a tree or give clean water to those in need.
