Wheaton Garbage Sticker Rate to Increase July 1

Garbage stickers in Wheaton will jump to $3.48 and leaf stickers will cost $2.86.

The cost for garbage/yard waste and leaf stickers will increase on July 1, 2012, as set by Wheaton’s four-year contract with its waste hauler, Veolia. Blue garbage/yard waste stickers will cost $3.48 each and leaf stickers will cost $2.86 each.

This “pay-as-you-throw” structure encourages you to recycle, since no stickers are needed for recycling, and you only pay for as much garbage/yard waste as you produce. For more information about Wheaton's garbage and recycling program, see that section of the City's website.

Time to put our garbage disposal city contract out for bids again. NO WAY does garbage pickup warrant such costs, let alone such an increase! How many of us are just taking this increase laying down? Come on people let's wake up!
