What Would You do to Improve Wheaton in 2013?

If you could make a New Year's resolution for the city of Wheaton, what would it be?

More than 45 percent of Americans make a resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family, and many say they will try to save money.

As millions of Americans make resolutions to improve their lives, what could we do right here in Wheaton to make it an even better place to live?

In 2012, officials in Wheaton have talked about plans for major improvements from rebuilding Jefferson Early Childhood Center, creating a strategic plan for downtown Wheatonset to open in town.

What is on your Wheaton wish list? What is one thing you would improve in 2013?

Tell us in the comment section below or blog about why you love living here! (Go to Wheaton.Patch.com/blog/apply, hit 'Post on Patch' and start typing away!)

I would put a stoplight up at the corner of Jahns and East Loop, especially for the sake of all of the children who wait at the bus stop there. Even a "quick" light would help a lot to combat the traffic flow.

We are homeowners in the Green Valley subdivision. Our dream world wish would be having curbs erected on the streets where we live. It would create a cleaner atmosphere in this prize area snuggled in between downtown and Danada shopping district. We homeowners respect our community and deserve to be included in the polishing of this town that sparkles in the DuPage theater,

I would love to see the 2 hour street parking in the downtown area abolished. If they want people to shop and eat downtown, make it easier for them to stay a while. The parking garages are helpful but having to watch the clock to avoid a ticket makes me want to lunch and run or go somewhere else. This is probably why most people choose to shop and eat in Danada; free, unlimited parking.

Continued development of downtown Wheaton with diversified retail. And, on that note.. WELCOME new Downtown Wheaton Executive Director Paula Barrington. And, I encourage Whaeton voters to elect John Prendeville as Wheaton Councilperson-at Large. He WILL, as you asked "Patches", be good for the City of Wheaton as will the re-election of Councilmen Scalzo and Suess. Finally... let's all get behind, as we might, with the fundraising efforts that will soon "kick-off" for the restoration of the Wheaton Grand Theatre. "FORWARD Wheaton"!

If you have't already do so, I encourage you to get in touch with your city council person along with your neighbors who are so inclined.
