People’s Resource Center Seeks Prom Dress Donations

People's Resource Center in Wheaton seeks donations of lightly-used prom dresses for its clients as prom season approaches.

People’s Resource Center (PRC) in Wheaton is seeking donations of lightly-used or new formal dresses, accessories and shoes, so girls who would otherwise not have a dress for prom can be “Belles of the Ball” with their peers.

Through March 29, PRC accept donations of girls’ formal wear at its Wheaton (201 S. Naperville Road) and Westmont (649 Blackhawk Dr.) locations Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon.

On Saturday, March 30, PRC will invite girls agest 14 to 18 to choose the perfect dress at the Doubletree Suites hotel in Downers Grove. There will also be stylists demonstrating makeup techniques, according to a news release from PRC.

“Last year, we were delighted with the response from the community for this event,” Lucinda Page, PRC Clothes Closet Supervisor, said in a statement. “I think most individuals remember the importance of attending a dance in high school.  Prom gives teens a chance to dress up and look their best for a special night.  Our staff and volunteers are excited to help young women in the community find their dream dress for the dance.”

Last year, more than 100 teenagers chose dresses at PRC’s Prom Dress Event and attended their prom in style.
