Oktoberfest Golf Outing to Celebrate Hope, History

On Par for DuPage golf outing is scheduled Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Arrowhead Golf Club in Wheaton.

People’s Resource Center and the DuPage County Historical Museum will honor the area’s past and present heroes during On Par for DuPage, an Oktoberfest-themed golf outing next month.

On Par for DuPage is set to start at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013 at Arrowhead Golf Club, 26W151 Butterfield Road. The 18-hole outing is scheduled for the height of autumn foliage and will include a continental breakfast, an Oktoberfest-themed dinner and craft beer, and an authentic German Oompah band to entertain during the dinner.

“... We’ll ultimately see neighbors helping neighbors in the community,” said Elizabeth F. Higgins, senior director of programs at People’s Resource Center. “That’s what this partnership is about.”

Award Nominees Sought

The most tangible way this event will honor those neighbors is through the Hope and History Hero Award. They are seeking to recognize an individual who, through business and community work, has helped to create opportunities in DuPage. “This award honors the businesses that have a rich history in DuPage County and are also moving forward for the betterment of those in our community,” DuPage County Historical Museum Curator Sara Arnas said.

Higgins agreed. “We’re celebrating the connection of people who founded the community and those who continue to build the community through service.”
