Navistar, DuPage NAACP to Continue Partnership in 2013

Partnership between the DuPage County Branch of the NAACP and Navistar, Inc. helps prepare area youth for future educational and career experience.

The DuPage County Branch of the NAACP and Navistar, Inc. are continuing their partnership to prepare area youth for future educational and career experiences.  For a second consecutive year, Lisle-based Navistar has pledged to support NAACP Youth Advancement initiatives, especially in the areas of Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM).

“We’ve seen first-hand how the NAACP’s work is positively impacting young people,” said Lisa Hartenberger, director of Corporate Communications and Community Relations at Navistar. “We’re excited to play a role in preparing tomorrow’s workforce and the next generation of leaders.”

Last year, Navistar hosted one of the NAACP’s, “So You Think You Want To,” career series. A diverse group of students in grades six through 12 gathered at the Navistar corporate headquarters to learn about global manufacturing and explore careers in engineering, operations, purchasing, sales, legal, and technology. During the half-day workshop, attendees heard from executives, asked questions in one-on-one breakout sessions and toured the Navistar facility.
