The frigid temperatures that plagued Metra and its commuters on Monday morning continued into the evening, prompting Metra to cancel more than two dozen of its evening trains, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The Tribune reports that Metra cited "continued hazardous weather conditions" as the reason for the cancellations. The agency posted a list on its website shortly after 3 p.m., and the list includes cancellations and service changes on the Union Pacific/West Line from Chicago to Elburn, which includes stops in Wheaton.
"All passengers are advised to continue to monitor Metra's website and media outlets for service updates throughout the evening," Metra’s website advised.
For the Union Pacific/West Line, the changes include:
Cancellations: Outbound trains 41, 43, 51, 53, 55, 59 and inbound train 60.
Train 45: To make all stops to Elburn.
Train 47: To make all stops from Lombard to Elburn.
Train 49, departure time 5:19 p.m.: To make all stops from Chicago to Elburn.
Train 61: To make all stops from Chicago to Elburn.
