It Rained, It Poured, but the Gina Glocksen Band Rocked

American Idol season 6 star and Naperville native Gina Glocksen and her band performed at the Memorial Park Bandshell at the Taste of Wheaton Saturday, Jun. 4.

After waiting out the downpour, Gina Glocksen and her band started their set late and rocked Memorial Park Saturday.

"Thanks for coming out and not being afraid of the rain. Wheaton never dissapoints!" said American Idol season six finalist Gina Glocksen between songs. Glocksen and her band played a set of covers to kick off the last night of the Taste of Wheaton.

The Gina Glocksen Band is comprised of Gina Glocksen, her husband, Joe Ruzicka on Bass, Drummer Kris Gutrich, and Guitarists Kyle Gansel and Kerry Gansel who are brothers.  Gina was introduced to the guys who were in a band of their own at a benefit event for breast cancer. "After the whole 'Idol' thing I met them and they left their other band for me. I still feel bad about it" Glocksen said.

They have original songs, but played covers at the Taste to please the crowd -- which they undoutedly did. "We play covers at festivals because it's what people want to hear" said Glocksen. Her favorite covers are songs by Pink and Katy Perry "because  they sound like the songs I write" she said. "I also love playing 'Eleanor Rigby' by the Beatles and the Paramore song, 'Misery Business'" Glocksen added.

Keeping the songs PG, she adjusted some of the lyrics of the songs she covers for younger audiences."At my other shows I get to play the original versions, but I also love playing the edited versions for the kids ... I like to play edits so they can enjoy it too." she said.
