Having a Heatwave, a Tropical Heatwave? In Wheaton?

Well, temperatures this weekend are about 50 degrees warmer than they were a week ago, so it's no wonder some might be inclined to celebrate ...

This time a week ago, Wheaton and the rest of the Chicago region were braced against the cold of a dreaded polar vortex that saw temperatures plummet to double-digits below zero and wind chills as low as -50 degrees.

And then the thermometer began to climb to above freezing, hitting the high 30s by Saturday — a veritable heat wave.

It’s no wonder that some felt inclined to celebrate, and Wheaton Patch says thanks, kindly, to Frances Fitzsimons of Wheaton, who shared these photos she took Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 of her daughter, Anastasia FitzSimons, also of Wheaton, her boyfriend Alex Perkowski, of  Hinsdale, and their snowwoman.
