Patch has Your Guide to the 2012 Taste of Wheaton

Patch has all the scheduling and pricing information you need for the 2012 Taste of Wheaton.

The Taste of Wheaton, hosted by the Wheaton Park District and Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, will take place May 31-June 3, 2012 in downtown Wheaton. A ribbon cutting and craft beer tasting event will kick-off the Taste on Thursday, May 31 at 5pm in Memorial Park, located at the intersection of Hale and Karlskoga Streets in Wheaton.

The Carnival will take place on Liberty Street, between Cross and Main Streets, Thursday through Sunday. Children’s entertainment, arts fair, and market place type expo will take place on Saturday, June 2 in Memorial Park.

Live entertainment, food vendors, and a beer and wine tent will be available Thursday night through Saturday night in Memorial Park. Hale Street will include family entertainment, vendors and much more. 

This year’s event is sponsored by the Downtown Wheaton Association. Other sponsors include: Jerry Haggerty Chevrolet, First Trust Portfolios, Skechers Fitness Group, Dr. Weber Wheaton Orthodontics Center, Community Bank Wheaton/Glen Ellyn, Blick Art Materials, DuPage Boomers, Benjamin F. Live entertainment for the Taste of Wheaton includes Gina Glocksen Band (5:45-7:15pm) and Spoken Four (7:30-9:30pm) on Thursday night.

Tumbling Dice will be playing on Friday night from 5:30-7pm and Vital Signs from 7:30-10pm.

Saturday’s entertainment includes: DJ Gabe Ortiz from 8:00-11:30am, Radio Disney’s Road Crew from 11:30 – 1pm, Driveway Band from 1:30-3pm, Serendipity from 3:30-5pm, He Said She Said 5:30-7:30pm and 7th Heaven from 8-10pm. All entertainment will take place at the band shell in Memorial Park.

Mike Benard, Executive Director of the Wheaton Park District, said in a statement from the park district, “The Taste of Wheaton is our signature event that brings the community together... It is great to see one of our premier parks filled with families and friends celebrating the beginning of the summer season.”

Wristbands

Discounted carnival wristband coupons are available until Thursday, May 24 for $17 per day at the Community Center, 1777 Blanchard Road and the DuPage County Historical Museum, 102 Wesley Street. Wristbands purchased at the Taste will be $20 per day.

Wristbands will be valid for carnival rides on Liberty Drive, from Wheaton Avenue to Cross Street. They will be available from 4-10 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 12-5 p.m. Saturday, June 2 and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.

The only event Sunday, June 3 is the Liberty Drive carnival, open 1-8 p.m.
