Frugal Family Finds: the "Get it While it's Hot " Edition

Time is money, right? Sometimes we shell out more for convenience but this week's Frugal Family Finds helps you find the trifecta of thrift by bringing together technology, convenience and savings.

1. Whole Foods — Wheaton and other locations

The Deal: Technology + convenience+ savings= the ideal deal. Thanks to Whole Foods for making it so simple for us coupon-clipping wannabes to be super savers. Click thru for online coupons you can print and save on items such as: vitamins, brats, roasted red peppers and even Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.

2. Brookfield Zoo — Brookfield

The Deal: Clap (or rap) along: ”We ‘re going to the zoo, zoo, zoo and you can come too, too, too. The kids are free, free, free, and I’m just paying for me, me, me!” On August 8, 9, 10 all children 11 and under are admitted for FREE. During Free Kids’ Days, presented by Meijer, Brookfield Zoo will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Admission for adults is $13.50 and parking is $9.00.

3. Lollapalooza.com — online

The Deal: Headed to the 20th Anniversary Lollapalooza concert this weekend in Grant Park? You don’t have to be at the three-day fest to enjoy a sampling of some of the fresh sounds from this year’s artists. The man behind the curtain, Perry Farrell is offering up 15-songs to download for FREE featuring Chi-town favorites, the Smith Westerns and jam band regulars, My Morning Jacket, and indie darlings Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.  For those a bit more voyeur minded (or just cheap) you could view many of the acts live streaming on YouTube beginning Friday afternoon as well at youtube.com/lollapalooza

6. Illinois Farm Families — Chicago
