Brace for 4 to 8 Inches of Snow

The National Weather Service predicts 4 to 8 inches of snow for St. Charles, Batavia, Geneva, Wheaton and the rest of Kane and DuPage counties.

Monday’s forecast of 3 to 5 inches seemed like more than enough, but on Tuesday, the National Weather Service revised its winter weather advisory for DuPage and Kane counties, which now predicts 4 to 8 inches of snow by Wednesday afternoon.

The winter weather advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, a snowy start to the new year.

According to the advisory, the steadier snowfall will continue this evening into the early part of the overnight hours, followed by a lull into Wednesday morning, when a second period of heavier snowfall will begin and continue into the afternoon.
