Dodgeball, Kickball, Shoes, Capture the Flag, running, jumping, and yelling. These words sum up the Marian Park Summer Olympics hosted by Grace Church of DuPage August 13th to 14th. The youth group ran the games and joined the teams, which equal 60 total participants. The Olympics spanned two days, with three sessions. Each session consisted of games and then a short devotional, then some free time before it was time to go, which was filled with dunk contests. Over the course of the three days there were four teams that were made, the Vipers, Mountain Lions, Wild Tigers, and Wildcats. Each game was worth a million points or more. Wednesday night the winning team was announced and it was the Mountain Lions with over 7 million points.
Overall, it was a wonderful time for the kids to travel to a new setting and interact with different people and play new games. It was a great way to end the summer program before school started and the kids all had a great time, which was shown as the numbers increased each session. The DuPage County Area Project is very thankful that Grace Church of DuPage opened up their facilities and planned this event for the kids.
