Roskam Reacts to Low Obamacare Enrollment Numbers

WASHINGTON, DC – Chief Deputy Whip Peter Roskam (R-IL) released the following statement responding to Obamacare’s individual marketplace exchange enrollment figures:

“The low enrollment numbers in the Obamacare exchanges are one fifth of what was originally expected and it’s unclear that these so-called ‘enrolled individuals’ actually purchased a plan. Today’s announcement puts even more pressure on President Obama to keep his promise to the American people that if you like your healthcare plan you could keep it. Millions of Americans are being dropped from coverage that they liked and many are seeing their health care costs sky rocket. This week, Republicans and Democrats can come together to honor the president’s promise by voting for legislation that allows people to keep their current plans. The American people deserve better than this disastrous rollout and an Administration that continues to defend at all costs an inherently flawed and harmful law.”

Petey, what about the Joint Strike Fighter? Some what $ 85 - $ 90 billion and 10 years later and we still don't have them deployed, but only "development" models. That fighter go started under W, one of your republican buds. Why don't you go after that program?
Ned November 14, 2013 at 09:18 PM
Joint Strike Fighter? Really? Obama is screwing with 1/6 of the entire economy, and you are still worried about "W"? 90 billion over 10 years? That's a rounding error. Please repeal the whole AHC mess. I had a healthcare plan, I liked it, but it was cancelled because Obamacare made what I had illegal. Yes, the standard Blue Cross plan I had for years was deemed "illegal".

Since Roskum is an embarrassment you cannot believe anything he says. He and his Tea bagger friends have caused so much damage to this country I constantly apologize that this guy represents my hometown. The GOP hates poor people, black people, gay people and don't want poor people to have insurance. I understand why these policys are being canceled because they basically charge and cover nothing. But it should be fixed. If you want a plan that covers nothing you should be allowed to be fooled by these companys. The ACA is a good thing, unless you are part of the people of hate in the religious right that will do anything to destroy this President. When I grew up in Wheaton it was fiscally conservative but socially estute (meaning people cared about less fortunate folks). Now Wheaton is inhabited by hate filled people who want an America, for the rich, and by the rich, and if you aren't in our church we hate you. So sad. Not much to love about Wheaton anymore.

Brian - your comment is so out of bounds is makes you look foolish. The notion that the polices people had "cover nothing" is completely ignorant. Go back to drinking your left wing Kool-Aid - please.
Brian Bown November 15, 2013 at 05:02 PM
Dear Ned, That's your opinion. But you are right the policys didn't cover as much as was required. I don't think I insulted anyone, but people of your ilk who disagree resort to insults rather than debate. I grew up in Wheaton. My family is still in Wheaton. Roskam represents the worst of what the GOP has become. I used to vote for non-mentally ill Republicans when I lived there. I don't support the GOP anymore now that their stated policys are to suppress minority votes, treat certain people as second class citizens, and make sure millions go with out insurance. But you are right, canceling the policys that covered very little wasn't right. But it's been fixed now. But Wheaton will never go back to the wonderful place it used to be.

No Ned, YOU and your Christiofascist Crazy friends who still support the crap Republicon Party are the ones out of line. Get your head out of your FOXhole.

Ned - your comment is so out of bounds is makes you look foolish. Go back to drinking your right wing Kool-Aid - please. Roskam is a dolt.

Brian, you are definitely correct on that one. There is a cadre of Wheatonites that do hate people who "are not acceptable". I live here, more intolerance now than 15 years ago when we moved here. I can't say all of Wheaton is that way, but a larger, more vocal group now.
Max Smart November 19, 2013 at 12:22 PM
Wheaton, your larger more vocal group is called section 8. You and Brian must be haring the same bong. Nothing but America hating and name calling. How about some FACTS to back up your drivel?
Wheaton Watcher December 04, 2013 at 08:08 PM
What is a bong? I have heard of a gong. Sorry, no section 8, oversized stand alone home. 3,100 square feet.
Wheaton Watcher December 04, 2013 at 08:13 PM
Almost completely paid for.

ADP jobs report for November, 215,000 jobs added, above analyst's expectations, October numbers revised upwards. Roskam certainly knows what is going on in the economy, with zero spin! NOT.

I think he meant "dong" Wheaton.
