Perspectives on Immigration and Immigration Reform Program and Discussion

A public event at Windsor Park on Tuesday, Jan. 21 includes representatives from law enforcement, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and religious institutions.

Carol Stream, Ill. – January 16, 2014 – Is there a need for immigration reform? If so, what should it look like? Can Congress find a common thread amongst the diverse groups calling for it? Can Congress act on it?

The public is invited to listen and participate in the forum “Welcoming the Stranger: Perspectives on Immigration and Immigration Reform,” at Windsor Park, 124 Windsor Park Dr., Carol Stream. The event will take place in the auditorium of the retirement community on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1 – 2:30 p.m.

Speakers will be:
•    Mike Langer, Pastor, Glen Ellyn Evangelical Covenant Church
•    Matthew Soerens, U.S. Church Training Specialist, World Relief
•    Cholly Smith, Great Lakes Region Manager, U.S. Chamber of Commerce

Tim Kustusch, advocacy specialist with World Relief DuPage / Aurora, says that the forum is intended as an educational event.

“Matt Soerens will present information about the current U.S. immigration system,” explained Kustusch. “The other three speakers will address the business, faith, and law enforcement positions; with plenty of time for questions.”

Participating groups in the program are Bibles, Badges and Business for Immigration Reform, the Evangelical Immigration Table, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and World Relief DuPage/Aurora.

For more information on the event, please contact Tim Kustusch at (630) 462-7660 or tkustusch@wr.org.
