DuPage Symphony Orchestra Announces 57th Annual Young Artist Auditions

 

The DuPage Symphony Orchestra will hold its 57th Annual Young Artist Auditions on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Wentz Fine Arts Center on the campus of North Central College, 171 E Chicago St., Naperville.

The auditions are open to high school student musicians who reside within DuPage, Kane, Kendall or Will County.   Eligible performers include vocalists, pianists and those who play string, wind or percussion instruments ordinarily found in a symphony orchestra.   The audition selection must be chosen from the standard orchestral repertoire and is subject to approval by the DSO Music Director prior to the competition.  Orchestra parts must be available for rental or purchase by the DuPage Symphony Orchestra.  Previous First and Second Place winners of the DSO Young Artists Auditions are ineligible to participate.

The First Place Winner will receive a cash award of $500 and the opportunity to appear as a soloist with the DuPage Symphony Orchestra during the concert on Saturday evening, May 3, 2014.  If the First Place Winner cannot appear on that date, he or she will forfeit the prize, and the Second Place Winner will receive the First Place cash award and will appear as the soloist.  If the First Place winner does perform, the Second Place Winner will receive a cash award of $300.

 

Application materials are due by Monday, January 13, 2014.
