BUSINESS SYMPOSIUM AT WINDSOR PARK TO FOCUS ON "CORPORATIONS, CAPITALISM AND CHRISTIANITY"

Three renowned business leaders will lead a four-part business symposium focused on “Corporations, Capitalism and Christianity” at Windsor Park, a faith-based, not-for-profit, continuing care retirement community administered by Covenant Retirement Communities. The series will culminate with a panel discussion moderated by Karen Larson, executive director of Windsor Park.

Tuesday, May 13, 2014, 10 a.m., Rick Fisk, president and CEO of Covenant Retirement Communities, will explore “Is There a Difference Between a For-Profit and a Non-Profit Business?”

President of CRC since 2002, Fisk also served as operating vice president beginning in 1997. CRC is a ministry of the Evangelical Covenant Church and operates 15 retirement communities with more than 5,000 residents nationwide. 

Wednesday, May 21, 10 a.m., Robert Lane, retired chairman and CEO of Deere & Co., will explore “Worldwide Human Flourishing, Not Cozy Capitalism, as the Global Executive’s High Calling: Market as Means, Profit as Reflection and Compensation as By-Product.”
Lane joined Deere & Co. in 1982 and served in various leadership positions before being appointed chairman and CEO in 2000. During his leadership the company doubled its net income to more than $2 billion. He currently serves on the boards of BMW, General Electric, Northern Trust, Verizon Communications and the University of Chicago. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.

Wednesday, May 28, 2014, 10 a.m., William Pollard, retired chairman and CEO, ServiceMaster, and current chairman of Fairwyn Investment Co., will explore “Business as a Calling: The Virtue of Profit.”

Pollard twice served as CEO of ServiceMaster Co. over a 25-year period. He was chairman of the board from 1990-2002 and elected chairman emeritus when he retired in 2002.  He currently serves as director of Cadence Health, The Drucker Institute at Claremont Graduate University, Bright China Social Fund and The California Institute of Advanced Management. He is advisor to The Drucker Academy in Hong Kong and China.

Wednesday, June 11, 2014, 1 p.m., Windsor Park Executive Director Karen Larson will moderate a panel discussion with Fisk, Lane and Pollard.


The symposium is sponsored by the Windsor Park Center for Lifelong Learning, which presents opportunities for continuing growth and enrichment through education, the creative and performing arts.
