BFF’s at GreenFields of Geneva
Although they’ve only known each other for a year, they feel like they’ve been best friends forever. Pearl Urquhart and Ida Mae Alcorn, who are residents of Willows Assisted Living at GreenFields of Geneva exercise, sip wine, listen to music and watch television together. “Whenever you see one of them, the other is usually really close by,” said Judi Donovan, executive director of GreenFields.
“Promoting this type of friendship is exactly what we had in mind when we designed Willows,” said Donovan. The neighborhood was developed with the goal of encouraging seniors who are no longer able to stay in their homes independently, to remain engaged in activity and friendships in a comfortable, safe and private home-like environment.
Willows residents have the opportunity to enjoy the amenities of the full GreenFields community including the fitness center and creative expressions art studio. Within the assisted living neighborhood, residents can enjoy movie night in the multi-purpose room, or read in the quiet comfort of the library where there are two computer stations for use. The dining room offers three fresh chef-prepared meals daily. “Willows flows much like any household” said Donovan. “This is to emphasize a social environment where people can contribute and thrive.”

Willows apartments, which are available in various floor plans, each has its own kitchenette and private bath.
Pearl moved to Willows from her home in Geneva about a year ago. “I have a very nice apartment here and the food is great. The best part is that someone else is dong the cooking and we don’t have to wash the dishes,” she said. “And I’ve made such wonderful friends.”
