Ballet Quad Cities Takes you Behind the Scenes During a Presentation at Windsor Park, a Covenant Retirement Community

The Public is Invited to Bring Their Questions on September 27 in Carol Stream

Carol Stream, Ill. – September 17, 2013 – Windsor Park, a Covenant Retirement Community in Carol Stream, invites the community to join them as they learn what it takes to produce a ballet and what to look for when you attend a performance.

“Behind the Scenes with Ballet Quad Cities” takes place on Friday, Sept. 27, at 10:30 a.m. in the auditorium of Windsor Park, 124 Windsor Park Drive. The event serves as a prelude to Ballet Quad Cities’ performance at Wheaton College later that evening. The 7:30 p.m. show will be the first of the troupe’s season as well as their inaugural performance in the Chicago area.

The company’s founder, Joedy Cook, and artistic director Courtney Lyon will share the vision that inspired Ballet Quad Cities, explain what this art form is about, and provide tips as to how to understand it.

According to Dave Reifsnyder, promotion manager for the Wheaton College Artist Series, the interactive presentation will combine lecture with demonstration.

“We’re encouraging attendees to come inquisitive,” explained Reifsnyder. “If you want to understand what a plié is, ask. More than likely, Courtney will not only explain, but show you.”

Tickets to the ballet, with scenes that range from “dramatic to winsome,” will be available at Windsor Park following the presentation. According to the ballet company’s description, scenes include Touché Par La Lune (Moonlight Sonata), The Promise of Living, and Newsflash, based on television commercials from the ’50s - ’60s. Tickets can also be purchased online at www2.wheaton.edu/TicketOffice.

The event is free, but seats are limited. Please R.S.V.P. to attend the Windsor Park event at www.RetireAtWindsorPark.com/rsvp or call (877) 816-8397.
