Today in Wheaton: Tragedy, Kind Note Tug Heartstrings

A Wheaton man death in a crash in Gurnee drew the attention of many Wheaton Patch readers, but so did one random act of kindness in the form of a note ...

The death of a Wheaton man in a traffic accident in Gurnee on Sunday night drew the attention of many Wheaton Patch readers, as tragedies often do.

Andrew Wilcox, 18, of Wheaton, died after the 7:13 p.m. crash on Interstate 94 in Gurnee. His passenger refused treatment for minor injuries.

But readers also were touched by a random act of kindness that one Wheaton Patch fan shared with local editor Ted Schnell. Nick P. emailed a copy of the note to Patch and his story about finding the note, which, among other things, said, “This is another human telling you to have a FANTASTIC day!  And even if it wasn't, you should still put a SMILE on your face!”
