DESCRIPTION:During the summer and fall of 2012\, the Design Workshop cons
 ultant team solicited initial input from the community regarding the fut
 ure vision for Downtown Wheaton and some general ideas for its improveme
 nt over the next 20 years. The project team analyzed a number of factors
  &ndash\; including traffic\, infrastructure and the local market &ndash
 \; to assist the City Council in reaching a consensus &ldquo\;vision&rdq
 uo\; for the Downtown&rsquo\;s future.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;  As the next
  step\, the consultant team will conduct a public open house at 7 p.m. F
 eb. 28 at Wheaton City Hall to discuss strategies that the community may
  consider in making the vision for Downtown Wheaton a reality over the n
 ext 20 years. The presentation will outline a variety of ideas\, ranging
  from the creation of enhanced public gathering places and civic spaces\
 , to improved streetscape ideas\, to concepts for additional development
  and redevelopment of select areas within Downtown. The public can provi
 de feedback concerning the various ideas shared through the use of keypa
 d polling questions and by talking one-on-one with consultant team membe
 rs.  In addition\, on Feb. 28 and March 1\, members of the consultant te
 am will be meeting with Downtown stakeholder groups as well as business 
 and property owners from the Downtown area to gain their feedback concer
 ning the range of ideas and concepts for the Downtown&rsquo\;s improveme
 nt.  The public open house on Feb. 28 will represent a key step in creat
 ing the overall plan for Downtown Wheaton for the next 20 years. The Cit
 y encourages the community to attend this open house to share their opin
