IMEA strives to provide the most comprehensive educational experiences for everyone involved in music education in the state of Illinois. The Illinois Music Education Conference takes place each year in January, in Peoria. Education, creation and collaboration bring together over 10,000 people to Peoria each year for the Illinois Music Education Conference.  District Festivals take place each fall throughout the state in the nine geographic IMEA Districts. 

The director of the Wheaton North High School Band is Mr. Jon Noworyta and the director of the Wheaton North High School Orchestra is Mr. Phil Rudd.
