DuPage County Sheriff John Zaruba receives 2013 Court Security Professional of the Year award from National Sheriff's Association.
DuPage County Sheriff John E. Zaruba was awarded with the 2013 Court Security Professional of the Year award by the National Sheriffs’ Association. He was presented with this honor on Feb. 2 at the National Sheriffs Association Annual Winter Conference in Washington, DC.
The award recognizes a professional who has created an innovative process, program or procedure that has contributed to the improvement of the court environment in security, safety, custody, or any other significant improvement in court security operations, according to a news release from the Sheriff's office.
“Our court houses must provide a safe and secure setting for the public, and for those who work there,” Sheriff Zaruba said in a statement. “Maintaining the developing needs of the courts and staying in the forefront in the field of court safety and security is vital in safeguarding our courthouses and the people in them."
Zaruba has served on the board of the National Sheriff’s Association (NSA) Court Security Committee and is the current chairman.
