Police Blotter: Thefts, DUI, Criminal Defacement Arrests

The following items were taken from the Wheaton police blotter.

 

Theft

A Wheaton resident in the 1800 block of Briarcliffe returned from a vacation on Apr. 3 to find that more than $1,500 in electronics had been taken from their house, including a Nintendo Wii, an X Box, a Ping driver, a Toshiba laptop, an iPod and iPod docking stations. Police said that the back door to the house showed signs of forced entry. The resident's dog sitter was unaware of the incident, according to the police report.

A Wheaton resident in the 800 block of James Court reported a stolen propane tank and plants on Monday, Apr. 11. The resident believes they were taken sometime in the last six weeks, police said. 

A Wheaton resident of the 1200 block of Briarbrook reported a stolen Harley Davidson Mortorcycle cover, worth $130, on Wednesday, Apr. 6. 

Arrests

Police arrested a Wheaton man for obstructing identification and criminal defacement of property in the 200 block of Union Avenue on Sunday, Apr. 10. Alek Meiser-Renton, 18, of the 26w100 block of Armbrust, was arrested (208 union) at around 6 p.m. Sunday, booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that evening.

Police arrested Sharlene Hedge of West Chicago for driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage and operating an uninsured vehicle on Monday, Apr. 11. Hedge, 23, drove a gray 2004 Chrysler Sebring near the intersection of Roosevelt and Delles roads at around 3 a.m. when police stopped her. She was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.

Police arrested a 20-year-old Wheaton man for possession of drug paraphernalia and operating an uninsured vehicle on Friday, Apr. 22. He drove a back 1994 Pontiac Grand Am near the intersection of 22nd and Briarcliffe streets when police stopped him. He was released on the scene.
