No Argument about Illinois' Best Governor in 13 Years

Of course, Ryan and Blagojevich didn't set the bar too high, winding up behind bars.

No wonder we have had so many crooks get elected and re-elected.

They're all pathetic. If they are the best Illinois can come up with, this state will never recover. Unfortunately, the electorate is as pathetic by putting these people in office. Given the electorate, I don't expect things to change for the better soon.

Quinn used to be a champion for the people. What a disgrace he has also become.

Quinn was bought and sold to the highest bidder before he even defaulted to the Governors position.

Blago was a better governor, by far. Cuts while taxes go up? Paying interest on the debt to keep those government pension funds fat that's why! But this is what the voters were told would happened; they knew; ans this is what any intelligent voter ought to have expected. He'd be re-elected in a heart beat..."more just, you "know,"...than his capitalist opponent.

Now we realize why Blago was targeted. He refused to pay overtime. He saw this crisis of salary coming a long time ago.. And since he gets mad easy,he rushed headlong into a trap. An angry self absorbed rant, that has been a repeated part of our culture for 200 years.

These are gangsters....and they are getting worse with their arrogance and narcissitic personality disorders. It is just a matter of time and we will become the most "Oppressed State". It has already occurred here in Geneva with the School District and the School Board Gangsters!!

Thanks for your comments everyone. I remember Quinn being quite the consumer advocate not long ago. So its a case of an outsider trying to beat (or change) the system by joining it. (Bobby Rush is a better example perhaps). However, the system in Illinois - yes, controlled for too long by the likes of Madigan and his cronies and their heirs - makes reform of any kind nearly impossible. I think there is only one option: move. If you can afford to pay the tolls on the roads leading out of state.

I think you have to go back to Dick Oglevie to find a governor who wasn't lining the pockets of contributors, wasn't playing favorites with members of the General Assembly, and was completely honest with the voters.

Ogilvie instituted the state income tax and paid the price, being voted out in the next election cycle... but yes, Kent, he was honest and that was needed at that time. Gov. Walker's jail-time resulted from activities after he left office. Gov. Sam Shapiro remains my favorite. He sat thru my performance at the Illinois State Fair accordion playing competition in 1967 or thereabouts. For that alone he deserved re-election!

Whether Quinn is a crook or not remains to be seen. What is indisputable is that he has made a lot of hard decisions that needed to be made, due to the overall state of the economy , and the state of the State which was left to him by his predecessors
