Milton Township Trustee Steps Down

A Glen Ellyn resident and township trustee resigned after an ethics complaint against another township employee was dismissed.

Milton Township Trustee Chris Edwards has resigned from his post.

The news comes after a heated Milton Township meeting last week where trustees voted in favor of paying the cell phone bill of an employee who was rumored to be using a government-issued phone to do campaign work. Due to a "lack of probable cause," the Ethics Commission decided not to pursue the case.

Shortly after Tuesday's meeting, Chris Edwards sent a letter of resignation to his colleagues on the board.

"My decision to resign was not easy, but I believe it is best for me and my family at this time," Edwards writes in the letter, obtained by Patch.

Edwards confirmed he was resigning in a phone call but did not comment further.

The Usual Suspects

Word out of Milton Township is Mr. Edwards resigned his Trustee position because of the pressure put on him by Trustee Flickinger and embattled Assessor Bob Earl.

Flickinger and Earl continually called Trustee Edwards telling him what to say, which way to vote on issues, and trying to force policy changes that would drive their self-concerned agenda. Both Flickinger and Earl have to go together they have turned Milton Township into a place of conflict.

Mr. Edwards is just the latest causality of the strife created by Flickinger to try and cover up the incompetent and unfair job his buddy Bob Earl, the Milton Township Assessor has been doing the last 4 years.

Sorry to Mr. Edwards leave his heart was always in the right place wanting to do what was best for the residents of Milton Township. Good luck to you Mr. Edwards.

Just for the record this article makes it seems like because an ethics complaint was dismissed because the charges were unfounded Mr. Edwards resigned. It's simply not true! In fact Mr. Edwards was a vote in favor of paying the phone bill.

Once again it was the undue pressure put on Mr. Edwards by Flickinger and Earl to do their bidding. Both have to be replaced they have turned Milton into a nightmare to work within.

Hinkle's Bible

@The Usual Suspects, Way to tow the party line! I think Edwards was betrayed by the Heidorn/Falbo/Jensen/Hinkle/Ives faction that run Mitlon Township. They kept him out of the Debra Olson seat with the insider deal with Amy Grant, and now with all of this acceptance of fraudulent use of tax payer resources by the board he had no choice but to leave. The State's Attorney should have fun with all of the issues created by a corrupt township.
It is time for the Hinkle family to leave and stop living off the tax payers to fund their political activities and working hour Bible studies.
