The FBI is investigating the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County!

The Commissioners and President of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County should be held accountable for the millions of dollars awarded in single bid contracts. And while their Executive Director is being questioned by the FBI
they decided to award him with a bonus with benefits! Isn't intersting that the payments approved by the Board and made to Alamach are excluded from the "transparency portal"?

The Forest Preserve District is corrupt. We need to clean house and get some new blood on the Commission. Enough is enough.

Once elected, Leopoldo will organize an ethics committee to prevent the District from ever again authorizing over a half a million dollars in fraudulent contracts. They are currently operating without any checks or balances.

Wonder why the paid outside auditor did not find these contracts/payments?
Why doesn't the Forest Preserve use the County Auditor?

Now if the FP Board would stop setting the wrong example for the employees by entering into no-bid contracts themselves and then taking political contributions from those same firms we could learn from this error in miss-management. Then we can move on to addressing the salary, free family health benefits and a pension all for a part time job of being a Board member. What about the President’s salary and car benefits that he said he would address almost a year ago. While we are addressing reform, let’s take those taxpayer paid political signs down in the forest preserve with the president's name on them....let's start doing what is right.

Dewey Pierotti just said Tuesday that the FBI isn't looking at the Forest Preserve contracts and he yelled during public comment when someone asked about this story in the news.

I can't believe that the 6 Part-Time Commissioners from the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County get paid $53,500 a year plus full-time benefits and a taxpayer subsidized pension for maybe 1,000 hours a year and they just sit there! Part-Time President Pierotti gets $107K plus all the trimmings and a car allowance but he says he is retiring. Not one of the Commissioners (Joe Cantore from District 2 is frequently absent so I guess he can't be faulted?) has said a word at any meetings about the FBI's investigation. If they don't ask questions they are not doing their jobs. I like this idea that if they don’t show up like frequently absent Joe Cantore from District 2 they should not get paid.

To Rob's points above it is simple - One political party in control equals abuse.

Like in Cook County where it is controlled by the Dems the DuPage County problems are caused by one political party in total control. The Republican control of the Forest Preserve District with the 6 weak Commissioners (really 5 since Commissioner Joe Cantore District 2 rarely attends) is a lot like the Cook County Board when Todd Stroger was in control! Sad but true.

Since the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County was separated from the DuPage County Board they have allowed these questionable practices:
$ Annual salaries of more than $53,000 with a taxpayer subsidized pension and full time benefits for a part time job.
$ Hiring of family members for well paying jobs.
$ Award of millions of our tax dollars in non-competitive contracts.
$ Accepted unlimited campaign donations from companies doing business with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County.
For all the taxes we pay we deserve a better Forest Preserve District in DuPage County! Please tell any like minded voter you know in DuPage County about these abuses! It can change with new Commissioners elected on 11/6/12

The FBI's investigation of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, the closed door meeting the President of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County had with the Chairman of DuPage County and the big bonuses paid to the former Executive Director are excellent reasons why we should ask questions. If we (concerned citizens) don't ask questions no one will because the Commissioners have not asked one. Let President Pierotti yell, make false accusations and insult the concerned citizens but at the very least please answer our questions. Please pass this along!
