Crews Complete Storm Debris Removal
The financial impact to the city is estimated at more than $300,000, according to a release.
Wheaton public works crews have completed the citywide pickup of tree debris from the July 1 storm, the city announced Friday.
According to the release, crews made one pass throughout the city to collect debris from all parkways.
Remaining debris placed at the parkway will not be collected by the city.
The City’s Forestry Division will now proceed to remove damaged parkway trees and leftover hanging branches. If you have a parkway tree with hanging branches, you can contact the City’s Forestry Division to inform them of the location of the tree.
Recovery from the extensive damage of this storm has resulted in unforeseen expenditures and delays in regular services provided by Public Works department crews.
The financial impact to the City is currently estimated at more than $300,000, according to the release. The money will come from the City’s general fund reserves, lowering that fund’s balance.
