FRIDAY, JAN. 25

Resident Stops Burglary Attempt

A resident in the 300 block of West Oak Street reported an attempted burglary after she saw two people trying to force open her back door. She told police she went to the sunroom after hearing what sounded like ice sliding down the roof around 12:35 p.m. When the two people saw her, they immediately turned and ran, police said.

Suspended License, Registration

Police charged Niyaz Usmanov, 25, of Aurora, with driving on a suspended license and driving on a suspended registration. He drove a silver 2007 Honda Accord near the intersection of Blanchard Street and Roosevelt Road around 1:20 a.m. when police stopped him. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.

Aggravated Assault

Police charged John Aguilar, 35, of the west 100 block of Roosevelt Road in Wheaton, with aggravated assault at his home. He was arrested near the intersection of Beverly and Childs streets around 1:15 a.m. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.

DUI

Police charged Jason Germain, 29, of the west 0-100 block of Armbrust Avenue in Wheaton, with driving under the influence of alcohol. He drove a blue 2000 Toyota Corolla near the intersection of Gary Avenue and Geneva Road around midnight when police stopped him. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.

THURSDAY, JAN. 24

FedEx Package Stolen

A resident reported someone stole a FedEx package containing collectible currency from a door step in the 400 block of West Seminary Avenue between 12:15 and 1 p.m. Jan. 16.

Warrant, Car Damage

Police arrested Nicholas French, 28, of the 400 block of Crescent Street in Wheaton, with a warrant for a Dec. 6 car damage offense in the 100 block of North President Street. He was arrested near the intersection of Liberty Drive and Sumner Street around 11:55 p.m. Jan. 24, booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that night.
