Harpist Kate Cockle Performs at Wine on the Terrace
Harpist Kate Cockle will perform in Dekalb, IL at the Ellwood House Museum’s Wine on the Terrace; Saturday, September 15th 4pm - 7pm.
When she was only five years old, Kate Cockle saw and heard a harp for the first time. From that first experience Kate wanted to be a harpist. Now living her dream, Kate’s passion is to share the beauty and creativity of music with her audiences and students. After graduating from Wheaton College with a double major in Harp Performance and Music History and Literature, Kate attended Northern Illinois University. There she completed her Master of Music in Music History. Currently, Kate is an active freelance musician, frequently performing throughout the Chicagoland area in chamber groups, orchestras, and as a soloist. Kate will be a highlight of this year’s Wine on the Terrace.
Each year a musician or musical group lends their style to the gourmet food and wine-sampling event. Brian Reis, director of Ellwood House Museum, said, “We are absolutely delighted that Kate will be part of our venue for the 15th. She played to an enthralled crowd in our Visitor Center earlier this year, and I wanted to find a way to bring her back to the Ellwood House. Kate’s enthusiasm and dynamic performance will surely make this year’s Wine on the Terrace memorable.”
Tickets for the 4pm – 7pm Wine on the Terrace event are still available. They can be purchased at the Ellwood House, Inboden’s, or online at www.ellwodhouse.org. According to Jerry Johns, vice president of the Ellwood House Association Board of Directors, “For $50.00 you get to sample a plethora of unique wines and taste some of Inboden’s finest food offerings. Most people come to have fun and try some things they might not normally experience. We don’t follow the typical industry example of tasting and spitting out the wine. Instead, ours is more of a wine tasting party where people casually mill about with friends and try little tastes of over thirty wines from different vineyards. The event is a superb value and a benefit for our wonderful museum.”
There are many sponsors that make this elegant event possible. Major sponsorship comes from Resource Bank. Gold sponsors are Jerry & Cheri Brauer and Dawn Equipment. Silver sponsors are Banner Up Signs, John & Nancy Castle, Kishwaukee Community Hospital, Ron Klein, and Synergy Seeds. Bronze sponsors are Acupuncture Health Center, American Midwest Bank, Anderson Funeral Home, Rodney Borstad, Richard & Thecla Cooler, Edward Jones’ Ryan D.
