Gifts, Grub, and Gratitude

Tuesday evening December 18th , DuCAP and Kiwanis teamed up to host a Holiday Party for 127 residents of Marian Park.  It was a smashing success full of entertainment, laughs, food, gifts, and smiles.  That “Tall Juggling Guy” was a juggler extraordinaire that involved the audience and conjured smile after smile. The delicious food, provided by Kiwanis, was served by the many volunteers.  Food and fellowship with the Marian Park residents was followed by Christmas desserts.  Finally, the moment everyone was waiting for...Santa Claus!  He came bearing gifts for all kids zero to eighteen. The kids were excited as the wrapping paper was ripped off to reveal spectacular gifts from sleds to mermaid dolls to table air hockey and Target gift cards for the teenagers.  The night ended with four raffle prizes, two bikes and two guitars!  The room was full of the Holiday spirit as kids were riding bikes and excitedly playing with and showing off their new toys.  As the party dwindled, the success was best made evident as a young man shared with several volunteers how thankful he was for the work put in the for Holiday Party.  A special shout out to Mayor Gresk, Erin of People’s Resource Center, and Kerry of the Wheaton Chamber for taking time to check out how DuCAP is involved in Marian Park, we loved your presence!  A big HOORAY is sent out to all the volunteers and the resources provided by; Kiwanis, the Key Club of Wheaton North High School, College of DuPage students, Franciscan Ministries facilities, Toys for Tots, First Nations Bank of Wheaton and the Marian Park NAC.  Finally, thank you to the Marian Park residents for attending and being such excellent guests!
